M aybe it was rubbing on the inside and the tires have been remounted?  It does look like rubbing over time and not just bashing it into the curb or something... weird.

It may have been driven when it was mostly flat. Check the inside of the tire to see if it has the same wear.

I have no idea how much sidewall is left on them 0_o

It’s a completely stock car, so no idea what would be rubbing!

Very weird! It’s a completely stock car, so that’s the only thing I can think of that makes sense unless they bought them used from somebody!

Didn’t know if it was a wild spotting or if it belonged to a family member .

I thought of that as well ! Not my car though, was just next to me in the parking lot at the grocery store, so it would’ve looked weird if I was poking around it! :P

No worries! I am sortof the ‘car guy’ of the family, so I’d hope I would never let one get that low, haha! Also, no Sonics in the fleet!

Old f amily photo - ‘Humdrum’ (my 2009 Accent hatchback), ‘Red Shift’ (my brother’s 2009 Accent sedan - named for an astronomy term because he likes astronomy...and the car is red), and mom’s 2010 Accent sedan called ‘Ho Hum’)

If front wheel I’d hazard maybe a strut ordering had token and they limped it home with the front tyre rubbing on the inside of the wheelarch rim for a period or broken periods of accelerating and braking.

If rear wheel then maybe car too heavily overlaiden and or soft suspension.

Definitely drove on a flat. It would only take a few miles to rub the surface off like that.

See you guys are a Hyundai family. I might have slightly influenced my dad’s last car purchase as he has a 135is now.

We are now! Our Accents have really given us no trouble at all other than maintenance items and the usual wear and tear. We weren’t always a Hyundai family though. My last car was a 2002 Subaru Impeza 2.5TS wagon that I’ve mentioned before - subframe rust and the cost to repair it was what made me sell that :

The burgundy Accent is bro’s first car, so he never had anything before it. Our last family battle wagon was a 2000 Civic that was very reliable other than the body rust that finally killed it:

We had a burgundy 1993 Chevy Cavalier sedan with the V6 before the Civic....I have literally no pictures o f that, so that tells you how we all felt about it...it gave us a lot of trouble over the few years we had it. Prior to that Cavalier we had a 1993 Dodge Caravan SE short-wheelbase that I still miss dearly...
